The problem
Supernova followed Blackhole, but it was not simply a reskin on another chain.
Ethereum brought a different environment, different liquidity and a broader DeFi audience. At the same time, the product needed to support an already sophisticated set of actions including swaps, liquidity positions, locking, voting, rewards and incentive markets.
The challenge was taking everything the team had learned from designing and operating Blackhole and turning it into a product that felt familiar where it should, while making room for a new token model, new liquidity mechanics and an Ethereum-native experience.

Supernova reused the strongest interaction patterns from Blackhole while evolving the system around Ethereum, new liquidity structures and a different incentive model.
What I did
Blackhole had already given the team real feedback on how people used swaps, liquidity, voting and veNFT positions.
Supernova did not need to reinvent those interactions for the sake of looking new. I kept the patterns that had proven clear, then focused the design work on the places where the Ethereum product actually behaved differently.
That made the new product feel connected to Blackhole without simply copying it.
Supernova introduced another layer of complexity through NOVA, veNOVA, Supermassive positions, gauges and protocol incentives.
Those mechanics matter to experienced DeFi users, but they should not make every screen read like tokenomics documentation.
The interface separated the user’s position, available actions and expected rewards from the deeper protocol mechanics, letting people understand what they could do before asking them to understand why the entire system worked.
Supernova launched into a very different crypto environment from the one the team had originally planned around.
That reinforced the need for a product system that could evolve without depending on a single launch moment. Pools, incentives, staking programmes, reward structures and integrations all needed room to change while the core product stayed recognisable.
The design system was built around that flexibility rather than a fixed launch-state interface.

The finished product carried the strongest parts of the Blackhole experience onto Ethereum while expanding the system around a new liquidity, voting and incentive model.
