The problem
Mortgage research happens in fragments: on the sofa, on a commute and between other things. The decision is the largest financial commitment most people ever make, but the browsing behaviour around it looks nothing like that seriousness.
A site in this category has to hold two things at once: enough authority that someone trusts it with a life-changing decision, and enough simplicity that they can make progress in the ten minutes they actually have.
Mobile designed as the primary view, where the traffic in this category actually arrives.
What I did
Most traffic in this category arrives on a phone. The mobile layout was the primary design rather than a squeezed desktop, so the small screen gets the considered version of every page.
Rates, terms and repayment figures are the reason anyone is on the page. Typography and hierarchy were built around making those scannable at a glance, with the supporting content arranged around them rather than competing.
The commercial purpose of the site is a completed enquiry. The route from reading to submitting was kept as short as the regulated content allows, with no unnecessary steps between interest and action.
Rates and repayment figures made scannable, with supporting content arranged around them.

Send the Figma, live product, deck or even a rough message. I’ll tell you what I think it needs, whether I’m the right fit and roughly what it’ll cost.
